save on ENERGY STAR qualified CFLs!

Green Idea:
If every household in the U.S. replaced one light bulb with an ENERGY STAR qualified compact fluorescent light bulb (CFL), it would prevent enough pollution equal to removing one million cars from the road.

Benefits:
More than 20 percent of the electricity generated in the U.S. is used for lighting.  Replacing your incandescent light bulbs with energy-efficient CFLs is one of the most cost-effective ways to save energy and money.

Turn the answers on with ENERGY STAR CFLs:
  •  One CFL lasts as long as ten incandescent bulbs – up to 7 years
  •  CFL pay for themselves within 2 years, then keep saving you money year after year
  •  The average home has approximatey 30 lights. By replacing the five most frequently used
light fixtures in your home or the bulbs in them with models that are ENERGY STAR
certified, you can save more than $60* each year in energy costs.

Turn the answers on with ENERGY STAR fixtures and ceiling fans:

•  ENERGY STAR qualified ceiling fans use improved motors and blade designs
  •  If your fan doesn't include lighting, be sure to purchase an ENERGY STAR qualified
light kit. Ceiling fan/light combination units that have earned the ENERGY STAR are
about 50 percent more efficient than conventional fan/light units.
  •  Save up to 90 kwh of electricity (on average) when you switch from a conventional
light fixture to a qualified indoor fixture
  •  Save an average of up to 130 kwh when you switch from a conventional light fixture
to an outdoor ENERGY STAR light fixture
