Rocky Mountain Power invites you to participate in the Home Energy Savings program. The Home Energy Savings program offers cash incentives to customers and contractors for the purchase and installation of energy-efficient heating and cooling equipment and services in the state of Wyoming.

Why should you enroll to be a part of the Home Energy Savings HVAC program? (top)

Who will be eligible for the consumer incentive?
Residential customers who reside within the State of Wyoming and who purchase their electricity from Rocky Mountain Power (formerly Utah Power) on rate schedules* 2 or 18 are eligible to participate. Landlords who own rental properties where the tenant is billed on rate schedules* 2 and 18 also qualify for this program.

What’s the difference between participating contractors and qualified contractors?
"Participating" contractors complete a contractor participation agreement and agree to Rocky Mountain Power’s terms for participating in the Home Energy Savings program. This includes – supplying proof of "installation certification" and agreeing to participate in a quality control process.

Participating contractors will be eligible to do work on the following measures:
• Central air conditioner and heat pump equipment
• Central air conditioner proper sizing

"Qualified" contractors have been trained to provide installation and service measures to program specifications for central air conditioner and heat pump installation, duct sealing and central air conditioner tune-ups. Qualified contractors have agreed to Rocky Mountain Power's terms for participating in the HVAC program and agree to participate in a quality control process.

Qualified contractors are eligible to do work on the following measures:
• Central air conditioner and heat pump equipment
• Central air conditioner proper sizing
• Central air conditioner proper installation
• Central air conditioner tune-up
• Duct sealing services

Details on incentives:

Central Air Conditioner (top)
• $250 incentive to customers on central air conditioners (15 SEER or higher)
• $25 incentive to contractors
• Central air conditioner must have a SEER rating of 15 or higher and must contain a
   Thermal Expansion Valve (TXV)
• May be a replacement or a new installation
• Incentives are available on existing homes only; new homes do not qualify

Central Air Conditioner Proper Installation
• $50 incentive to customers for proper installation
• $75 incentive to contractors
• Central air conditioner must have a minimum SEER rating of 13 and must contain a
   Thermal Expansion Valve (TXV)
• Work must be completed by a program qualified contractor
• May be a replacement or a new installation
• Incentives are available on existing homes only; new homes do not qualify

The central air conditioner proper installation measure offers incentives for properly installing a central air conditioner. Equipment eligible for the proper sizing incentive must meet the 13 SEER minimum requirement, but is not required to meet the 15 SEER central air conditioner requirement for equipment. The work for this incentive must be completed by a program qualified contractor.  Please refer to your Home Energy Savings Program Manual for additional program requirements. 

Central Air Conditioner Proper Sizing

• $50 incentive to customers for proper sizing
• $25 incentive to contractors
• Central air conditioner must have a minimum SEER rating of 13 and must contain a
   Thermal Expansion Valve (TXV)
• Manual J load calculation or equivalent must be completed
• May be a replacement or a new installation
• Incentives are available on existing homes only; new homes do not qualify

The air conditioner proper sizing measure offers incentives for the proper sizing of central air conditioner equipment. Equipment eligible for the proper sizing incentive must meet the 13 SEER minimum requirement, but is not required to meet the 15 SEER central air conditioner requirement for equipment.

Heat Pump to Heat Pump Upgrade (top)
• $250 incentive to customers on qualified heat pump (8.2 HSPF or higher)
• $25 incentive to contractors
• Heat pump must have an HSPF rating of 8.2 or higher and must contain a
   Thermal Expansion Valve (TXV)
• May be a replacement or a new installation
• Incentives are available on existing homes only; new homes do not qualify
• Homes must have an existing heat pump serving 80 percent of the floor area
  (ducted unitary cooling equipment)

Electric Heat System to Heat Pump Conversion
• $350 incentive to customers who convert their existing electric heat system (furnace,    baseboard, etc.) to a qualified    heat pump (8.2 HSPF or higher)
• $25 incentive to contractors
• Heat pump must have an HSPF rating of 8.2 or higher and must contain a
   Thermal Expansion Valve (TXV)
• Replacement heat pump must be the main source of heat and be replacing an existing
   electric heating system which must be removed
• Incentives are available on existing homes only; new homes do not qualify
• Homes must have an electric heating system serving 80 percent of the floor area

Central Air Conditioner Tune-Up (top)
• $100 incentive to customers for tune-up of central air conditioner
• $25 incentive to contractors
• Work must be performed by a program qualified contractor
• Incentives are available on existing homes only; new homes do not qualify
• Homes must have a central air conditioner serving 80 percent of the floor area (ducted unitary cooling equipment)

The work for this incentive must be completed by a program qualified contractor.  Please refer to your Home Energy Savings Program Manual for additional program requirements. 

Duct Sealing
• $150 cash back to customers for duct sealing
• $50 incentive to contractors
• Work must be performed by a program qualified contractor
• Incentives only apply to duct systems in existing homes where the ducts are in an unconditioned
   space. An unconditioned space is any space outside of the thermal envelope of the building that
   is not intentionally heated for occupancy.
• Incentives are available on existing homes only; new homes do not qualify
• Homes must have an electric heating system or a central air conditioner serving 80 percent
  of the floor area (ducted unitary cooling equipment)
